Bertram Engel

Bertram Engel (actually Bertram Lutz Wilhelm Passmann ; born November 27, 1957 in Burgsteinfurt ) is a German drummer.

biography

Engel started playing the piano at the age of seven. After secondary school , he attended the Musikhochschule in Münster . Drums was his major there.

With his brother Thomas, eight years older than him, he released several albums in the second half of the 1970s under the name Gebrüder Engel . They came up with the name because they both had blonde curly hair. Bertram then kept the name as a stage name. At this time he met Udo Lindenberg . Lindenberg hired him as the drummer in his panic orchestra. He has also been a drummer for Peter Maffay for almost four decades .

Bertram Engel has been a permanent member of the bands of these two musicians for years. He is involved in studio recordings and on stage as a drummer, composer and producer.

Bertram Engel has been married to Petra Passmann since 2008 and runs the Engelart Galleries in Seefeld / Tyrol together with her.
