Andrew Abraham (* 1964 in London ) is a British soul singer of Grenadian origins. In his home country he became known in autumn 2005 as runner-up on the talent show The X Factor .

Career

Abraham initially worked as a garbage collector in London . In the spring of 2005, he applied for the second season of the talent show The X Factor , which was successfully broadcast on the national television network ITV . In several qualifying rounds he prevailed against his competitors and made it into the final broadcast. There he was defeated on December 17, 2005 in the telephone audience vote Shayne Ward with 1.2% fewer votes. A total of over 10.8 million votes were cast.

Despite the defeat in the final vote, Abraham also received a contract with the record company Sony BMG, which accompanied the show . On March 20, 2006, his debut album was released under the title The Impossible Dream . With 176,000 copies sold in the first week, it reached number 2 on the British album charts. In total, about 300,000 copies of the album were sold and it went platinum in the UK . With his album Soul Man , released at the end of 2006 , he could not repeat this success. Nevertheless, it reached the top 20 of the album charts.

For his third album, which should appear in fact in 2008, Abraham wrote all the songs himself, the first single from it -. Even If - was on March 1, 2008 as part of the TV show Euro Vision - Your Decision 2008 as a British contribution to the Euro Vision Song Contest 2008 selected . In the final of the ESC on May 24th, 2008 in Belgrade , Abraham finished 25th and last place.
