Emma Booth (* 1974 in Bridgend , Wales ), known as Emma , is a former British singer.

Career

Emma Booth is the daughter of John Booth, a former member of the British band Union Express. In 1990, at the age of 15, she took part in A Song for Europe, the British preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . Her contribution, Give a Little Love Back to the World , was written by Paul Curtis , another member of Union Express. Emma received 97,625 votes in the televoting and was able to prevail more than clearly against the runner-up John Mills with 38,966 votes and thus won the ticket for Zagreb.

At Euro Vision Song Contest in 1990 she almost not allowed to participate: The EBU had introduced the new rule that each participant be at least 16 years old must; However, since the singer was about to turn 16, the EBU allowed her to participate. With 87 points she reached the sixth place out of 22 participants. Commercially, the contribution was not a great success and only came in at number 33 in the singles charts. On the other hand, it was the first British entry since 1984 to reach the top 40. After the competition, she released the single Dance All Night , which did not make it into the charts. Shortly afterwards, she retired from the music business and no longer performs today.
