Mike Moran
Mike Moran (born March 4, 1948 in Leeds , England ) is a British keyboardist , composer and music producer .
Career
He studied at the Royal College of Music in London .
Together with the singer Lynsey de Paul he wrote the song Rock Bottom (German: 'Forever'), with which they took second place in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest . This song reached u. a. in Germany, Austria and Switzerland the top 10 of the single charts . Moran and de Paul wrote a few more songs together, including Martyn Ford's single Let Your Body Go Downtown , which also made it into the UK Top 40 that same year .
Moran composed the soundtracks of numerous feature films and television productions. He played keyboards in the bands of rock musicians Ian Gillan and Ozzy Osbourne . He also worked a. a. with George Harrison , Paul Simon , Kate Bush and Elaine Paige .
With Freddie Mercury , Moran composed and produced his album Barcelona, which was recorded together with opera singer Montserrat Caballé and released in 1988 . The title song Barcelona was released as a single a year before and was released again as a single on the occasion of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. The title All God's People , written together with Mercury, was recorded by Moran with Queen for their 1991 album Innuendo . He also accompanied the band as a guest musician at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert the following year . Moran played the piano and keyboards on some of the songs from Brian May's 1992 album Back to the Light .
