Molly (2014)

Molly Smitten-Downes (born April 2, 1987 in Rothley ), also simply called Molly , is a British singer-songwriter . She was selected internally by the BBC to represent her home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen .

Life

Smitten-Downes studied at Leicester College Access to Music and the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford .

On December 18, 2011, she released her acoustic EP Fly Away with Me . She won the 2012 Urban / Pop category at the Live and Unsigned music competition, and in 2013 she received an additional award for best song at The Best Of British Unsigned Music Awards for her song Lost Generation .

On March 3, 2014, the BBC announced that Smitten-Downes would compete in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 on May 10 with her self-composed song Children of the Universe . She reached 17th place there.
