Daz Sampson (2007)

Daz Sampson (born November 28, 1974 in Stockport , Cheshire ; actually Darren Sampson ) is a British dance music producer and singer .

Life

Daz Sampson became known primarily through the publication of various dance songs, especially reworking of older songs that he recorded with other artists. He had his greatest successes with the group Uniting Nations ( Out of touch ), as part of the duo Rikki & Daz ( Rhinestone Cowboy ) and with the group Bus Stop ( Kung fu fighting ).

2006 he took on March 4th with the song Teenage Life , which he had written with John Matthews, better known as Ricardo Autobahn , in Making Your Mind Up , the British preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . The song, which was accompanied on stage by five young women in school uniforms (called The Sampsonites ), was able to prevail by a clear margin against the five other applicants. The performance caused controversy in the British media because of the "obvious sexual lewdness of the stage appearance" seen in the clothes of the background singers, but the singer was unimpressed:

"The young dancers were fully clothed [...] there were no sexual innuendos."

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens on May 20, he appeared with the same stage show, but could not convince the European audience and only received points from ten of the other 38 countries entitled to vote, overall he landed in 19th place with 25 points under 24 participants. Teenage life was still a hit in Great Britain and the most successful British competition entry since 1999. In addition, the audience ratings in Great Britain in 2006 were higher than ever in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. After the event, the single also hit the charts in France and the Netherlands.

In 2007 he submitted the song Goodbye , which he wanted to sing with Carol Decker, for the British preliminary round, but did not reach the final round.
