Shayne Ward (born October 15, 1984 in Manchester ) is a British singer . In his home country, he became known in late 2005 by winning the second season of the talent show The X Factor .
Life
Ward was born the youngest of seven siblings in a Pavee family. He gained his first experience in television in 2002 while participating in the talent show Popstars: The Rivals on the British TV channel ITV . Here he reached the final of the best 30, but then dropped out.
In 2005 he again took part in a casting show. Under the wing of his mentor Louis Walsh , he reached the final of The X Factor as the winner of the group of 16- to 24-year-olds. In the vote of the last show on December 17, 2005, Ward then prevailed with a 1.2% advantage over his opponent Andy Abraham . A total of over 10.8 million votes were cast.
On December 21, 2005, Ward's debut single That's My Goal was released , with which he immediately reached the top of the British charts and landed a Christmas number one hit . The single sold 313,000 copies on its first day alone, making it 3rd on the UK's fastest-selling singles list.
In early 2013 he took part in the eighth season of the figure skating show Dancing on Ice .
