Matt Terry (born May 20, 1993 ) is a British pop singer . He won season 13 of The X Factor .
Terry is from Bromley . He applied for the casting for the show with a cover version of Ben E. King's Stand By Me and received a yes from all four judges. Nicole Scherzinger became his mentor in the live shows . In the final on December 11, 2016, he defeated the Finnish singer Saara Aalto .
After winning X Factor , he signed a recording deal with RCA Records and released his debut single When Christmas Comes Around .
