Venus is a rock song by the Dutch band Shocking Blue from 1969, written and produced by Robbie van Leeuwen.
Emergence
In the melody van Leeuwen on oriented Tim Rose -Stück The Banjo Song , who had appeared 1964th The singer was Mariska Veres (1947-2006); the sitar was played by Jerry Ross (1933–2017). The original was released on October 2, 1969 and became a number one hit in the US and Switzerland. Cover version of Bananarama
1986 Bananarama Venus re-recorded for their album True Confessions . The group came up with the idea of making a dance version of the song and turned to the production team Stock Aitken Waterman . This version was released on May 19, 1986 and also topped the charts in the United States and Switzerland.
In the episode The dictator of Isla Islad of American Dad , this version has been used; also as a jingle in a Gillette lady's razor commercial . Bananarama's version of Venus was also used in the films Romy and Michele and American Pie .
