Life
The Voice of Holland
In the summer of 2012 Van Nieuwland applied for the Dutch version of The Voice . During the blind auditions, she was chosen by all four coaches and chose Trijntje Oosterhuis' group . She was the only participant to bring her contribution, the Usher song More , to the Dutch charts. In the Nederlandse Top 40 she climbed to 13th place and climbed to 3rd place, and in the Top 100 she climbed straight to 1st place. During the first live show, she received a platinum award, which no one had ever achieved in a casting show before. On November 23, Van Nieuwland made Top 100 chart history again when their single More peaked at number 2 and their new single Keep Your Head Up debuted at number 1. A week later she broke her record again when her song Beggin ' debuted at number 1, Keep Your Head Up at number 2 and More at number 3. To date, she is the first and only female artist who simultaneously took the first three places in the Top 100 in the Netherlands. In December 2012 Van Nieuwland was represented with four titles in the top 10 at the same time. All five solo show contributions made it to number 1 in the Top 100, only the battle duet Broken Strings did not make it into the charts. In the top 40 she was number 1 with Keep Your Head Up for two weeks and had three titles in the top 10 for one week, which only the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen had previously achieved. In January 2013 she was represented in the top 40 with all five songs for two weeks.
In the semifinals of The Voice of Holland on December 7th, she had to face the last remaining competitor from her group Leona Philippo . Sandra van Nieuwland was eliminated by audience vote and Philippo later won the competition. Philip's winning song, Could You Be Loved, was the only song from the show that made it into the top 40 other than the Nieuwland songs.
In 2012 the album And More was released with the five show hits and six other recordings. The album debuted at number 1 at the end of the year and stayed there for five weeks.
Private life
Van Nieuwland is divorced and has three sons.
