Life

Volker Rosin was born the son of the locksmith Heinz Rosin and his wife Annemarie. He made his first appearances in 1973 as a songwriter in youth centers, pubs and smaller halls in Minden , Bückeburg and Osnabrück, among others . From the start he presented his own compositions and texts, initially exclusively for young people and adults. From 1975 to 1977 he learned the profession of educator at the technical school for social pedagogy in Minden and then worked for two years as an educator in the Hausberge / Porta Westfalica kindergarten . During this time he wrote his first songs for children. From 1978 he started his own business as a children's songwriter and in 1980 he published his first song book “Die Liederwiese” in Don Bosco Verlag , Munich. He also studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Social Pedagogy in Kiel and graduated in 1982 as a qualified social pedagogue. 1981 saw his first release on his label “Moon Records” as an MC with “Die Liederwiese” . From 1982 Rosin published one record per year, as well as the accompanying songbooks; including “The Singing Kangaroo” and “The Gorilla with the Sunglasses”, as well as his record “ Beatles for Children”, for which he was allowed as the only German child artist by the Beatles publishing house in London to rewrite songs by the Fab-Four for children . Since 1985, several of his songs for " Die Sendung mit der Maus " have been turned into picture stories, mostly sung by his son Alexander, who was born in 1980. In 1987 and 1988 Volker Rosin was a musical guest at the Chancellor's Children's Festival, where he sang his songs. In addition to his CD productions, Volker Rosin devoted himself above all to his live performances, in which he involves the audience. In addition, he holds music education seminars for teachers. In 1987 his son Michael was born. In the 1990s, “Oldies for Children” and “Today is Party Time”, two CDs with cover versions of oldies from forty years of pop history, were released, which Volker Rosin himself described as a “musical bridge between the generations”. In 1995 he received the German Road Safety Award for his CDs “Vorfahrt für Kinder” and “Safe is Safe”. In the same year his first video "Singing is fun" was released. As part of a UNICEF campaign at the CHIO '99 horse show in Aachen, 12,300 children from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands sang Volker Rosin's hit “The Gorilla with Sunglasses”. This gave him an entry in the Guinness Book of Records .

In 2000 his project “A Little Heart” started for families and children with heart diseases. In 2004, the party version of his song from the singing kangaroo as "Kangaroo Dance" came in the German and Austrian charts at number 19 and the cover version by DJ Ötzi also reached the top 20. In the same year Rosin wrote the music for the musical "Cinderella" by Christian Berg . In 2005 his song “Das Lied über mich” in the version by Peter Wackel stayed in the charts for several weeks. Since 2005, the program Tanzalarm , which he helped to create, with Rosin's children's disco hits, has been one of the most successful in-house productions on the children's television station Kika . In 2005, the CD remained in the German charts for several weeks. His songs were used about 150 times in the Kika program Musikboxx. In 2006 Volker Rosin developed a project on integration with “Arkadaslar Elele”, which was filmed in several episodes for Kika (also available on DVD) and is the starting point for his series “Let's be friends today”. There were other episodes on Africa and Russia. He also produces special songs for travel agents and organizers. For the Robinson Club he wrote the musical “Roby and the Secret of Magic” with Biggi Lechtermann, and the musical “Roby and the Pirates” with Hans Schäfer. In 2006 he received a gold award for his production "1-2-Fly Solino Children's Disco", which also hit the German album charts under the title "Children's Disco - The Original". For his CD "Minidisco International", Volker Rosin recorded his songs in eleven different languages, including: a. Greek, Chinese, Turkish and Spanish. In 2007 he released the CD "Jambo Mambo". In 2009 his single "Hoppelhase Hans", a party version of his children's song in collaboration with Lorenz Büffel , reached number 75 in the single charts. By 2011, Volker Rosin had sold more than four million CDs and over 600,000 books with his songs.

In October 2011, Rosin, together with his colleagues Rolf Zuckowski and Detlev Jöcker, donated the German Kita Music Prize, endowed with a total of 8,000 euros, which was awarded to eight day-care centers.

Rosin has been involved in the Düsseldorf carnival since 2011 and supports the work of the Düsseldorf children's table through charity concerts.

In 2012 Rosin worked with the Circus Roncalli . This resulted in the episode “Circus around Volker Rosin” from a series of radio plays about Circus Roncalli. Rosin also played a charity concert at the guest performance of Circus Roncalli in Düsseldorf for the benefit of UNICEF .

In 2015 Volker Rosin published his first jazz album for children. “The blue dog wants to dance” contains standards of jazz literature for which he has written child-friendly texts and which should enable children to deal with jazz and swing in an impartial manner . The CD placed seventh on the German jazz charts in May 2015 .

In December 2016, Rosin founded the Volker Rosin Foundation . On the basis of his life's work and the values ​​contained therein, the foundation is intended to promote and initiate musical projects in which music is combined with play, theater or movement and thus social skills and structures are strengthened. This preferably applies to children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, children with physical and / or mental disabilities, as well as children with a migration background.

To this end, Volker Rosin is committed to the rainbow country children's and youth hospice in Düsseldorf. For this purpose he gives a benefit concert once a year, as most recently in October 2016.

In 2018, Volker Rosin supported HERZWERK eV with a concert, an initiative by actress Jenny Jürgens, which points out the need for cross-generational solidarity.

In March 2019, Volker Rosin gave a benefit concert in Oberhausen in favor of the "Tabu ev" from Dortmund, which advocates education instead of genital mutilation among children in Kenya.

In May 2020, Volker Rosin supported the German Doctors Association with an online reading campaign as part of the "Träume haben" (helping dreams) solidarity campaign.

Volker Rosin is also culturally involved in his hometown of Düsseldorf. In July 2020, for example, he took part in the “Heine am Hörer für Kleine” campaign by the Düsseldorf Heinrich Heine Institute and read selected and child-friendly texts by Heinrich Heine to children over the phone.

Awards

In 2010 a primary school in Düsseldorf was renamed the Volker Rosin School after the artist.

In September 2010, Volker Rosin received gold for over 100,000 units of the album "Das Kamel tanzt gern Cha Cha Cha" (Universal Carousel) and in April 2012 a gold record for 100,000 units of the album "Ki.Ka Tanzalarm" (Universal Carousel) sold. .
