Detlev Jöcker (born October 5, 1951 in Münster ) is a German composer , lyricist and singer of children's songs .

life and work

Detlev Jöcker first studied music in Münster and was a member of Peter Janssens' vocal orchestra from 1975 to 1979 . He discovered the Christian faith on the tour of the musical Ave Eva . He does a lot of concerts and seminars and has been working as a composer and publisher in Münster since 1986 . In 1982 he founded the group Menschenkinder. He played at many church days, gave numerous concerts and organized singing seminars for educators, primary school teachers and parents. In addition to training in pantomime , Jöcker also worked as an actor . a. in the " Kurt Tucholsky Revue" in the Düsseldorfer Kommödchen and in the "Bauernoper" in the Göttinger Schauspielhaus . As a young father he composed the first “learning, play and movement songs” for his youngest son Daniel. With many of his songs like "1,2,3 im Sauseschritt", "Big, red candles", "Greetings, dear Nikolaus", "Das Flummilied" and others. v. a. He is considered the inventor of the self-explanatory movement songs and thus became the musical protagonist of an early musical movement pedagogy that still shapes the everyday life of children today. After losing his first wife early on, he raised two children as a single father.

For more than 13 million records sold , Detlev Jöcker has received nine gold and seven platinum awards from the Federal Association of the Music Industry . As the “ambassador of the German children's song”, he has been traveling through various countries on behalf of the Goethe Institute for several years to promote the German language and culture with his concerts . He has been an ambassador for the Peres Foundation since meeting with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shimon Peres in 2005. Jöcker composed for children's programs such as Tamusiland and radio plays , and his children's songs have been translated into many languages. In addition, he founded the Menschenkinder Verlag in 1987. In the period from 1980 to 2017 Detlev Jöcker published around 500 records and song books on children's and family topics.

For his extraordinary social commitment he received the "Kind Award 2006" from Kinderlachen and in 2011 the Hannelore Kohl Honor Medal. In 2006, Jöcker was honored for his work in the House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, as part of an exhibition on the subject of "Melodies for Millions: The Century of Hit", alongside Udo Jürgens , Caterina Valente and other well-known personalities. He was a member of the ecumenical lyricists and composers group of the Werkgemeinschaft Musik e. V. and the AG Music in the Ev. Youth e. V., today the lyricists and composers group TAKT . His concerts are a hands-on program that uses simple choreographies to encourage large and small viewers to sing, dance and move. Over 800,000 visitors have seen his live concerts so far.
