Desorden Público is a ska band from Venezuela , which was founded in 1985 in the east of Caracas by Horacio Blanco ( vocals , guitar ) and José Luis "Caplís" Chacín ( bass ).

The name means "public disorder / unrest" and is an allusion to the trucks of the "public order" of the National Guard.

Band history

In 1988 they got a record deal and recorded their first record "Desorden Público" . This still has a rather simple, albeit energetic sound, but already the typical socially critical texts with black humor.

In the early 1990s, the music was gradually expanded to include other styles of music (mainly from the Caribbean ) such as salsa , cumbia , merengue, but also soul and jazz . At this time they also recorded their second album "En Descomposición" , through which they also became internationally known. Tours through the USA (1993), Mexico (1994) and Europe (1996, 2010, 2011) followed.

Further records and tours gradually brought Desorden Público to a top position in the Ska movement in Latin America .
