action
Carol and Mike Brady and their children live in a suburban house in the 1990s. The home furnishings and clothing of the family correspond to the 1970s. The family often surprises those around them with their optimism and ignorance of the reality of the 1990s.
In the neighborhood lives Mr. Dittmeyer, a real estate developer who wants to build a shopping center instead of the houses. The Bradys have to pay real estate tax and need $ 20,000. Mr. Dittmeyer offers the money and wants to buy the Bradys' house in return.
The architect Mike Brady shows his designs to some customers who do not find them up to date. He eventually sells a design, but Mr. Dittmeyer lies to the client that Brady's structures are unsafe. The order is being withdrawn.
The kids win $ 20,000 on a show. The neighbors follow the Brady's lead and also decide not to sell their houses.
Reviews
Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on February 17, 1995 that the film was based too closely on the original concept of the television series. A stronger contrast to the outside world would look funnier.
Edward Guthmann wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle of February 17, 1995 that the comedy thrived on the contrasts between the "innocent" 1970s and the "aggressive" 1990s. He described the scene of the attempted car robbery. Guthmann praised the portrayals of Shelley Long and Gary Cole, the "perfect" cast of their roles.
The lexicon of international films wrote: "A rousing comedy that is based on a renaissance of the 1970s that was current at the time of production, but which nevertheless maintains an ironic distance from both the series model and the epoch depicted."

The film was nominated for the Casting Society of America Award in 1995 . One dance sequence was nominated for the MTV Movie Award in 1995 . The film was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1996.
