Cusch Jung (actually Klaus Jung ; * 1958 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German musician , singer , director and actor . He has been chief director of the musical comedy in Leipzig since 2015 .

Life

As an actor, singer, dancer, director, choreographer, voice actor, author and lecturer, Jung is mainly active in musicals. From 1984 he was part of the permanent musical ensemble of the Theater des Westens for 15 years , where he a. a. when Judas ( Jesus Christ Superstar ) , Jean-Michel ( La Cage aux Folles ) and Cliff celebrated success in Cabaret . Further stations in his career were in Hamburg, Dortmund, Kassel, Essen, Bonn, Munich, Zurich, Basel and St. Gallen in roles such as Che Guevara ( Evita ) , Tony ( West Side Story ) or as star lawyer Billy Flynn ( Chicago , 1999). For Stage Entertainment he played Harry in Mamma Mia! (2002–04), Thénadier in Les Misérables (2004/05), Rochefort in The Three Musketeers (2005/06) and Herbert in I want fun! (2008).

Young staged own revues ( all just theater , gentlemen , today you see me ... ) and musical classics such as My Fair Lady (also as Higgins), Cabaret (emcee), Kiss me, Kate , Anatevka , Mozart! and Jekyll & Hyde . In the film The Lion King , he took over the singing voice of Simba.

In 2003 he played in the television series Adelheid and their murderers in the episode End of a career .

Jung is the winner of the "International Musical Awards". As a guest lecturer, he taught at the Joop van den Ende Academy .

In the German premiere of Sister Act at Operettenhaus Hamburg, he took on the role of the villain Shank in 2010-12. Jung made guest appearances with productions of One Night in Venice at the St. Gallen Theater (2012/13) and the German premiere of Peter Pan at the Halle Opera House . In the 2014/15 season he played the role of Shrank in the West Side Story at the Leipzig Opera . In 2015 he staged the world premiere of the musical Puss in Boots at the Brothers Grimm Festival in Hanau .

Jung has been the chief director of the Musical Comedy in Leipzig since the 2015/16 season . There he staged the European premiere of Alfred Uhry's musical LoveMusik about the lives of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya , in which Jung also played the role of Bertolt Brecht . Other productions in Leipzig included the musical Dracula by Frank Wildhorn, Gilbert & Sullivan's Die Piraten von Penzance , Bernstein's On the Town and Puccini's La fanciulla del West .
