Sally you Randt

Sally du Randt (born June 8, 1965 in Vryburg , South Africa ) is a South African opera, operetta, lied and concert singer with a soprano voice .

Life

After graduating from high school, Sally du Randt studied singing at Potchefstroom University in South Africa from 1985 to 1990 with Werner Nel . In 1992 she took private lessons with Marita Napier .

In her home country she won several prestigious singing competitions: Oude-Meester (1987); ATKV Forté competition (1987 and 1990) a. a. From 1990 to 1991 Sally du Randt taught singing at the University of Potchestroom and in 1993 at the University of Pretoria. In 1994 she won first prize in the operetta category at the 13th Hans Gabor Belvedere International Singing Competition and became a finalist in the opera category. A year later she became a member of the Cape Town Opera Studio.

Her first engagement in Europe led the soprano to the Stadttheater Regensburg in 1996 , where she a. a. sang the following roles: Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly , Aida in Aida , Tatjana in Eugen Onegin , Chrysothemis in Elektra , Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos , Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta in Hoffmann's stories , Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail , Marie in Wozzeck , Rosalinde in der Fledermaus and Elisabeth in Tannhäuser .

Since the 2002/2003 season she has been a member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Augsburg . So far she has shone there. a. as Cio Cio San (Madame Butterfly), Elisabeth ( Tannhäuser ), Floria Tosca ( Tosca ), Desdemona ( Otello ), as Norma (concert performance), Dorota ( Schwanda, the bagpiper ), Fiordiligi ( Così fan tutte ), Armelia ( a masked ball ), as daughter ( Cardillac ), Adriana in ( Adriana Lecouvreur ), Leonore in ( Fidelio ) and other leading roles. In the 2008/2009 season, the artist also sang Marietta (Marie) in Korngold's “Die tote Stadt” at the Landestheater Niederbayern . For the 2009/2010 season, the program included leading roles in Verdi's “ Don Carlos ”, Schreker's “ Der ferne Klang ”, Puccini's “ Turandot ” and in Kaiserslautern Korngold's “ The Miracle of the Helians ”.

Guest engagements have taken the soprano to Roodepoort, the Civic Theater, the State Theater in Pretoria, the National Theater in Windhoek, the Landestheater Linz, and the stages in Nuremberg, Passau, Ulm, Kassel, Kaiserslautern, Braunschweig and Salzburg. In Trier she sang Chrysothemis in Elektra by Richard Strauss at the Antiken-Festspiele 1998 , alongside Hildegard Behrens , Anja Silja and Franz Grundheber . At the Bavarian State Opera in Munich she sang Helmwige in Die Walküre and in May 2005 she made a guest appearance at the Vatican.

The artist is as dedicated to the song as to the opera. Her concerts take her to many cities in Europe and South Africa.

Sally du Randt was married to the musician Ralf Gollmitzer, who died on March 10, 2011 .
