Cathrin Lange (* 1982 in Aachen ) is a German opera, operetta, lied and oratorio singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Cathrin Lange received musical training in her parents' house. From the age of fourteen to the beginning of her studies, she took piano and singing lessons at the music school in Düren. From 2001 to 2007 she completed her vocal studies with Soto Papulkas and Jagna Sokorska-Kwika at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, which she graduated with a diploma in 2007.

The soprano took master classes a. a. with Brigitte Fassbaender , Norman Shetler , Julie Kaufmann , Klesie Kelly-Moog and Ingrid Kremling .

From 2009 to 2017, Cathrin Lange was a member of the ensemble at Theater Augsburg . There she was u. a. to experience in the following roles: Gilda in Rigoletto , Olympia in Hoffmanns Tales , Adina in L'elisir d'amore , Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande , Musetta in La Bohème , Gretel in Hansel and Gretel , Sandrina in La finta giardiniera , Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro , Zerlina in Don Giovanni , Adele in Die Fledermaus , Frasquita in Carmen and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady .

She has been engaged at the Staatstheater Darmstadt since March 2018 and will play Ninfa / Proserpina ( Orfeo / Monteverdi), Pamina / 1st Lady ( Die Zauberflöte ), Adele ( Die Fledermaus ) and Oscar ( A Masked Ball) in the 2018/19 season .

In autumn 2017 she made her debut at the Komische Oper Berlin with the role of Miss Schlesen in Satyagraha by Philip Glass .

Further guest engagements have taken her to the Stuttgart State Opera , the Basel Theater , the Aalto-Theater Essen , the Saarbrücken State Opera , the Graz Opera , the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, the Ulm Theater and the Salzburg State Theater .

In addition to her theater work, Lange also devotes herself to concert and oratorio singing. So she sang u. a. St. Matthew Passion by JSBach, A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms , Messiah by Georg Friedrich Händel , Hymn of Praise by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , the Coronation Mass and the Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , the 3rd Symphony by Leonard Bernstein , the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré , Carmina Burana from Carl Orff and the Mass of the Children by John Rutter .

From 2011 to 2013, Cathrin Lange sang the national anthems for the award ceremony of the DTM (German Touring Car Masters) in all races across Europe. The races, including the award ceremony, were broadcast nationwide by TV partner ARD .
