Georg Festl

Georg Festl (born December 2, 1987 in Nuremberg ) is a German opera singer with a bass-baritone voice .

Life

Georg Festl studied at the University of Music in Würzburg with Endrik Wottrich and Christiane Iven . During his studies, he made guest appearances at the Mainfrankentheater in Würzburg and became a member of the ensemble of the Augsburg State Theater . Since 2017 he has been a member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater Darmstadt and performed a. a. as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro , Frank in Die Fledermaus and in the title role of Messiaens Saint François d'Assise .

Saint François d'Assise

The role of St. Francis in Messiaen's only opera is considered to be one of the most difficult roles in modern music theater. Georg Festl sang it at the Darmstadt State Theater in 2018 (musical direction: Johannes Harneit ; director: Karsten Wiegand) and received great acclaim from the press. The production was considered a "terrific success".
