The Literatura na Świecie, short LNS (literature in the world) is a Polish monthly magazine, published in Warsaw since 1,971th It is the only Polish magazine devoted to foreign language literature. The publisher is the Book Institute .

history

The monthly was founded in 1971 and was printed in large format. The first editor-in-chief was Wacław Kubacki . In October 1972, Wacław Sadkowski took over the management of the magazine, which was now published in a smaller format. In addition, each issue was dedicated to a writer, a cultural area or a special topic.

The magazine has been headed by Piotr Sommer since 1994 . Since then it has appeared in large format again. In addition to translations, literary-critical treatises, discussions and reviews of translations are also published.

Prices

Literatura na Świecie has awarded prizes every year since 1972 , initially for the best translation of prose and the best translation of poetry. Five further categories were added in 1994: “New Voice”, publishing initiative, translation studies , comparative studies and literary studies . In addition, the special Mamut prize will be awarded.
