Kathrin Lange

Kathrin Lange (* 1969 in Goslar ) is a German writer and publicist; she writes political thrillers and books for young people and heads the Wolfenbüttel Literature Laboratory , where she takes care of the training of young writers.

Life

Kathrin Lange was born in Goslar in 1969 and lives with her family in a village in Lower Saxony. After graduating from high school and training as a publishing clerk and bookseller , she has a. a. worked as a specialist bookseller for theology and ran her own company for DTP design. Kathrin Lange has been a freelance writer since 2009.

From 2002 to 2004 she edited the author's magazine Federwelt . Since 2009 she has been a lecturer in creative writing at the Federal Academy for Cultural Education in Wolfenbüttel and gives creative writing seminars at schools. She has headed the Wolfenbüttel Literature Laboratory since 2013 . Lecturing and a. at the University of Hildesheim, the University of Freiburg and the University of Applied Science and Art in Hildesheim.

In 2005 and 2006 she published two novels with Rowohlt and several books for young people with Fischer Schatzinsel . In the construction of Taschenbuchverlag , her “Engelmörder” trilogy was published from 2008 to 2012. In 2008 her historical novel Das eightchte Astrolabe was nominated for the Sir Walter Scott Prize for the best historical novel in German, and in 2009 her historical novel for young people, The Secret of the Astronomer, received the Segeberger Feder youth literature prize. In 2018 her book for young people became Die Fabelmacht-Chroniken. Flaming characters awarded the 1st Saxon Book Summer Prize.

Her current political thrillers all about an investigator with a migration background are published by Blanvalet, and her youth books are published by Arena. She worked for Dryas / Goldfinch Verlag as a program manager and editor .

Kathrin Lange was a member of the Association for the Promotion of the German-Language Historical Novel ( Authors' Circle Historical Roman Quo Vadis ), which dissolved in 2014. She is currently a member of the PEN Center Germany , "The International Thriller Writers Inc." (ITW) and in the syndicate .
