Gerhard Siegel (* 1963 in Trostberg , Upper Bavaria ) is a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

He studied at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg with KS Liselotte Becker-Egner. After permanent engagements in Trier (1993–1995), Dessau (1995–1996) and at the Staatstheater Nürnberg (1998–2006), the singer is now working as a freelance artist.

Gerhard Siegel has guested at the following well-known opera houses: Bayreuth Festival , Komische Oper Berlin , Deutsche Oper Berlin , State Opera Berlin , State Opera Vienna , Theater an der Wien , National Theater Munich , Metropolitan Opera in New York, New National Theater Tokyo , Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London , Teatro Real in Madrid, Korea National Opera in Seoul, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Among the roles he portrayed are Mime and Loge up to Siegmund and Siegfried in the Ring of the Nibelung , Florestan in Fidelio , Parsifal in Parsifal , Bacchus in Ariadne on Naxos , Herodes in Salome , Tristan in Tristan and Isolde , up to the captain in Wozzeck . He worked with well-known conductors such as B. Antonio Pappano , Jeffrey Tate , James Levine , Ivor Bolton , Zubin Mehta , Jesús López Cobos , Silvain Cambreling and Christian Thielemann together.

In the 2014/15 season he appeared as Lohengrin in Richard Wagner's opera of the same name. In 2016 Gerhard Siegel of Midas was in The Love of Danae by Richard Strauss at the Salzburg Festival (conductor: F. Welser-Möst, director: A. Hermannis).
