Jenix is a German rock band from Zittau . The band around the singer Jenny Böttcher was founded in 2003 and gained national fame through the support of Silbermond as well as through performances at festivals and victories at competitions. Her best known song Here We Go Again was released as a single in 2011; The debut album Kill the silence followed a few months later .

history

The male members got to know each other in a big band led by Hepper's father. After the three musicians Tobias Krostack, Ferdinand Hepper and Jan Linke found the then 14-year-old Jenny Böttcher as a singer, the new rock band was founded with the first rehearsal on June 4, 2003. During the first gigs in their hometown and in neighboring Jonsdorf , they only played cover versions . In 2004 the name "Jenix" was born and the band wrote their own songs, initially in English and German. Silbermond discovered Jenix as a support act, among other things for a joint benefit concert in Schmochtitz , which developed into an annual event. In 2005 Jenix was also the opening act for H-Blockx .

The following year was marked by successes in band competitions with four wins and two audience prizes, for example at “Sachsen rockt” in Mittweida . Jenix won an appearance at the Highfield Festival at an event on the radio station MDR Jump . As part of the Coca-Cola Soundwave Discovery Tour 2007, the Saxon band traveled to Thessaloniki and the Hurricane Festival . Since she happened to meet the Bloodhound Gang on her return trip from Greece , she was booked as the opening act for concerts in Lindau , Rostock and Nuremberg . In December Jenix was also allowed to accompany the H-Blockx to four concerts in Germany and Austria.

The year 2008 caused a setback due to a burned out tour bus, which Jenix processed musically in her most famous song "Here We Go Again". Other successful songs like "Breakin '" or "Covergirl" were also written during this time. The band made appearances at the Ideensounds project, at the YOU youth fair and at the VR Stararena in Braunschweig . At the beginning of 2009 Jenix represented Upper Lusatia at the Green Week in Berlin. In the spring, the group - supported by H-Blockx bassist Stephan "Gudze" Hinz - recorded songs for their planned debut album.

After a workshop at the VW Soundfoundation in February 2010, Jenix accompanied Silbermond at most of the concerts on their summer tour. On July 9th, the joint benefit CD “Silbermond meets Jenix” was released for the benefit of the victims of the earthquake in Haiti . In addition, they each covered a song from the other band as an acoustic version : Jenix chose “Infinite” and Silbermond sang “Here We Go Again”. In the endeavors to produce the debut album, after problems caused by the flood disaster, she made significant progress by founding her own record label JNX-Records on October 26, 2010. In the last months of the year, the Zittau band organized their first own club tour, which ended on December 11th in the hometown.

On March 4, 2011, the single Here We Go Again was released , which entered the charts at number 95. The song Catch fire , which is also on the CD, was selected as the title song for the International German Motorcycle Championship. On July 15, the band released their debut album Kill the Silence , which contains twelve other tracks and the cover version of Tom Lüneburger's Picture . The tour for the album began on May 11th in Berlin and initially led through eight German cities. Lüneburger appeared as the opening act and duet partner. The tour continued in November and December 2011.

On June 4, 2013, Jenix celebrated the band's tenth anniversary with an unplugged concert broadcast online .

On February 14, 2014, the single We are so young was released as the first release from the new album Circles . The band's second album was released on March 7th. A tour of eleven cities began on April 14th.
