Empty Trash was a four-piece German rock band . It was founded in November 2005 in Berlin . The band became known to a wide audience after their singer Max Buskohl took part in the fourth season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS), which was broadcast on the evening program of the private television station RTL from January to May 2007 .
Band history
The band was founded in November 2005 by Max Buskohl and Per Blut. Some time later, Stefan Kull and Julius Murke joined the band. In the summer of 2006 they achieved first place at the local Emergenza final in Berlin. In autumn they came second at the German final of the Global Battle of the Bands . In 2007 Empty Trash took part in the Emergenza again, but left the competition in May. The saying "Giving up is in my blood" made by Buskohl on this occasion became famous.
In early 2007, singer Max Buskohl took part in the RTL casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar . There he was voted among the last three participants in the event, but voluntarily dropped out of the competition in order, according to his own statement, to be able to continue playing with his band.
In the summer of 2007 guitarist and singer Tim Schultheiss joined the band and they signed a record deal with the record company EMI . After the band rented the Gaga Studios in Hamburg in September 2007, the debut single Limited was released on November 9, 2007 , with which the band made it into the German charts. On November 23, 2007, the first album was released under the title Confession . It was produced by Patrik Berger and Carl Carlton , Buskohl's father.
On November 19, 2007, he announced his departure from the band by blood. Jörn Schwarzburger became the new drummer. In November and December 2007 the band went on tour in Germany with the songs from their album Confession . At the end of February 2008, Stefan Kull decided to leave the band. He was replaced by Philipp Stüber. On March 14, 2008, the single Garden of Growing Hearts was released . This song is also the title track for the movie Die Welle . On April 21, 2008 Tim Schultheiß announced his departure from the band.
On May 2, 2008, the new radio play series Team X-Treme appeared, on which Max Buskohl sings the title song. In the summer of 2009 Max Buskohl was a guest star alongside world stars such as Paul McCartney , Ringo Starr and Yusuf Islam on the album Voormann & Friends: A Sideman's Journey by Klaus Voormann .
On their MySpace page, the band announced their split in December 2009. The farewell concert took place on February 12, 2010 in Berlin.
