Esther Kim

Esther Kim (* 1977 in South Korea ) is a South Korean-German pianist .

Life

Esther Kim lived in Seoul until she was eight . She received her first piano lessons from her aunt when she was six. In 1985 her father, a Protestant pastor, was invited to Germany for the South Koreans and the family immigrated to Oberhausen . Esther Kim had to learn the German language and also received regular piano, cello and violin lessons.

Esther Kim completed her school days and her piano studies in North Rhine-Westphalia. She dealt exclusively with classical music until she and her brother moved to Düsseldorf at the end of her studies. There she took various jobs that helped her to finance her studies and brought her into contact with light music . She walked the catwalk as a model and accompanied Tobias Regner , Silbermond , Kate Hall , Bintia , Lionel Richie , Ja Rule , Marius Müller-Westernhagen and Zucchero on the piano on stage. Here she discovered Jochen Hülder , manager of the band Die Toten Hosen , and hired her for his club in Düsseldorf.

In 2005 Esther Kim played a key role in the concert album Nur zu Visiting , recorded in the Vienna Burgtheater . Esther Kim accompanied Die Toten Hosen on piano and accordion. The concert was released on CD and DVD and received several awards. Even after 2008 she accompanied Die Toten Hosen on their Neck and Leg Broken and Machmalauter tours . a. at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park , 2015 in the Letzigrund and 2017 at the mood of the Natour .

Kim lives in Düsseldorf.
