Bintia Bangura (born December 28, 1978 in Magdeburg ) is a German pop and soul singer .

Life

Bintia Bangura was born on December 28, 1978, the daughter of a Guinean and a German, and spent much of her childhood in Berlin . She attended the French grammar school in Berlin-Tiergarten for five years. In 1993, at the beginning of the 10th grade, the family moved to the Caribbean on the island of Saint Thomas .

A few years later, Bintia was persuaded by a friend in Berlin to join the group Finesse . In 1999 she then recorded an English-language album with Vanessa Mason in the formation TiaVan . Although both presented the CD together on the European Gladiator Tour , a possible release date was never announced due to internal label problems.

After graduating from school, Bintia returned to Germany in 2000, where she turned down a basketball scholarship in order to be able to devote herself to a career as a singer instead. In 2001 she received her first record deal with Def Jam Germany , which resulted in her debut album BINTIA and the single Über Den Wolken in the same year . However, the hoped-for success did not materialize, and the label parted with her just a few months after signing the contract. Around the same time, Bintia contributed a few productions for Yvonne Catterfeld's debut album, on whose tour she was hired as a background singer at the end of 2001.

In 2002, her then-husband Harris , with whom she has two children, referred Bintia to Xavier Naidoo and Billy Davis. They offered her to sing under Naidoo's label Beats Around The Bush. Her second single, the mid-tempo ballad Wenn Der Himmel , brought her her first commercial success and promoted work on her new LP B-Constant , which was released in the summer of 2004, and the duet Tage und Stunden with Xavier Naidoo includes. She was also involved in several songs in the "Your Favorite Rapper" project, which consists of Harris and Sido .

In 2010, Bintia is working on her third studio album, which was scheduled for release in the summer of 2006, but has still not been released. She can also be heard in the background of the Xavier Naidoo single Abgrund .
