NGC 4389 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBbc / P in the constellation Canes Venatici in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 35 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter . The galaxy is part of the Ursa Major Galaxy Cluster and a member of the NGC 4051 group ( LGG 269 ).

In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 4392 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 10, 1788 .
