NGC 4379 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is an estimated 46 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter . She is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 784 . The object was discovered on March 21, 1784 by the astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
