NGC 4360 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E2 in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is around 311 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 light years. Together with IC 3274 , it forms the galaxy pair Holm 393 . It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 722 , but is too far away for that. The galaxies NGC 4410 , NGC 4316 , IC 3255 are located in the same area of the sky .

The object was discovered in 1877 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
