NGC 4346 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 40 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is part of the Ursa Major Galaxy Cluster and a member of the NGC 4051 group ( LGG 269 ).

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 1, 1788 .
