IC 3313 is a spiral dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 46 million light years from the Milky Way and about 10,000 light years across. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VCC 817 as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster . Together with PGC 40547 , it forms the galaxy pair Holm 398 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4379 , NGC 4396 , NGC 4405 , IC 787 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
