IC 3315 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 73 million light years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years across. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 823 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4388 , IC 3291 , IC 3311 , IC 3349 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
