IC 3036 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sm in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 13 million light years from the Milky Way . It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 48 .

The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
