IC 3031 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is around 1.2 billion light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 240,000 light years.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4164 , IC 3029 , IC 3033 , IC 3035 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
