IC 3046 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sc with an active galaxy core in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 359 million light years away from the Milky Way and is approximately 135,000 light years in diameter. Together with PGC 213950 it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair . It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 76 , but is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4193 , IC 3041 , IC 3047 , IC 3052 .
The object was discovered by Arnold Schwassmann on September 14, 1900 .
