IC 3059 is an irregular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type Im in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 9 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 5,000 light years . Under catalog number VCC 126 it is part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3054 , IC 3062 , IC 3066 , IC 3073 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
