IC 3078 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 883 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 130,000 ly. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under the catalog name VCC 145 , but it is too far away for that.
The galaxies IC 3060 , IC 3064 , IC 3081 , IC 3099 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
