IC 3021 is an active spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sab with extensive star formation areas in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 110 million light years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 15 , but is too far away for that.
The galaxies NGC 4164 , IC 3018 , IC 3029 , IC 3031 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 7, 1904 by the American astronomer Royal Harwood Frost .
