Giovanni Canova (born July 27, 1880 in Canicattì ; † October 28, 1960 in Turin ) was an Italian sword fencer .

successes

Giovanni Canova took part in two Olympic Games : at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp , he took first place in the team competition with the Italian team. Together with Abelardo Olivier , Tullio Bozza , Dino Urbani , Andrea Marrazzi , Tommaso Costantino , Antonio Allochio , Aldo Nadi , Nedo Nadi and Paolo Thaon di Revel , Canova became Olympic champion . In the individual competition, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. In 1924 he moved with the team in Paris again in the final round, which he finished with Giulio Basletta , Marcello Bertinetti , Virgilio Mantegazza , Vincenzo Cuccia and Oreste Moricca behind France and Belgium on the bronze medal .
