Franco Bertinetti (born July 14, 1923 in Vercelli , † March 6, 1995 in Marseille ) was an Italian sword fencer .

successes

Franco Bertinetti was world champion five times with the team : 1953 in Brussels , 1954 in Luxembourg , 1955 in Rome , 1957 in Paris and 1958 in Philadelphia . In the individual he won silver in 1955 and bronze in 1954 and 1957. He twice took part in the Olympic Games : at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , he reached the final round with the team, which Italy finished in first place without defeat. Together with Roberto Battaglia , Giuseppe Delfino , Dario Mangiarotti , Edoardo Mangiarotti and Carlo Pavesi , Bertinetti became Olympic champion . Even four years thereafter , he moved to the French team into the final round, which ended again unbeaten in first place. In addition to Bertinetti, Giorgio Anglesio , Giuseppe Delfino, Edoardo Mangiarotti, Carlo Pavesi and Alberto Pellegrino were part of the team.

His father Marcello Bertinetti was also a two-time Olympic fencing champion, his son of the same name Marcello Bertinetti took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in fencing.
