Árpád Bárány (born June 24, 1931 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian sword fencer .

successes

Árpád Bárány was world champion with the team in Budapest in 1959 . In 1957 in Paris and 1958 in Philadelphia , he also finished second with the team and third in Gdansk in 1963 . He took part in the Olympic Games twice: in 1960 in Rome , finishing fourth with the team, he just missed winning a medal. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 , he entered the battle for the gold medal with the Hungarian team and, thanks to an 8: 3 success, was overItaly with István Kausz , Tamás Gábor , Zoltán Nemere and Győző Kulcsár thus Olympic champions . In 1958 he won the Hungarian championships in singles, he was also three times Hungarian champion with the team.
