Paolo Ignazio Maria Thaon di Revel (born May 2, 1888 in Toulon , France , † May 31, 1973 in Turin ) was an Italian sword fencer , Conte of the Thaon di Revel family and a fascist politician . From 1935 to 1943 he was finance minister of fascist Italy.

Paolo Thaon di Revel, who in World War I as a lieutenant colonel in the artillery fought and for his commitment Kriegsverdienstkreuz received, participated in the Olympic Games 1920 in Antwerp in part. In these he reached first place in the team competition with the Italian team, so that Thaon the Revel together with Abelardo Olivier , Tullio Bozza , Dino Urbani , Giovanni Canova , Tommaso Costantino , Antonio Allochio , Aldo Nadi , Nedo Nadi and Andrea Marrazzi became Olympic champions . In 1919 Thaon di Revel joined the National Fascist Party . From 1929 to 1935 he was first mayor of Turin before becoming Italy's finance minister in Mussolini's cabinet on January 24, 1935 . He had been a member of the Senato del Regno since December 1933 . He held the office of finance minister until February 5, 1943. From 1954 to 1959 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee and in 1956 was also President of the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo .
Thaon di Revel had three daughters.
