Jacques "Jack" Guittet (born January 12, 1930 in Casablanca , Morocco ) is a former French fencer .

successes

Jacques Guittet won the epee individual world champion in Turin in 1961 . He also won the title with the Degen team in Buenos Aires in 1962 and in Paris in 1965 , including with the foil team in Philadelphia in 1958 . In the team competition with the sword he won silver in Turin in 1961 and in Gdansk in 1963 , as well as bronze in 1958 in Philadelphia and 1959 in Budapest .

He took part in the Olympic Games twice, always only in the epee competitions: in 1960 he finished ninth with the team in Rome , while he was eliminated in the individual in the quarter-finals. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 he reached the battle for third place with the French team, in which Sweden was defeated 9: 6 after an 8: 8 draw due to the better hit ratio of 64:59. Together with Claude Bourquard , Claude Brodin , Jacques Brodin and Yves Dreyfus , Guittet received the bronze medal. He finished the individual competition in ninth place.

Guittet was married to Françoise Gouny , who was also an Olympic fencer.
