Gerek Lin Meinhardt (born July 27, 1990 in San Francisco ) is an American foil fencer .

successes

Gerek Meinhardt achieved numerous successes at the continental level. He has been the Pan-American Champion several times: in 2013 and 2014 he won the title in singles and from 2011 to 2018 eight times in a row with the team. With the team he also won gold three times at Pan American Games . He also won silver in Toronto in 2015 and gold in individual singles in Lima in 2019 . At world championships he won silver with the team in 2013 , 2017 and 2018 . In 2019 he finally won the title in Budapest . In singles he was able to place himself on the bronze place in Paris in 2010 and in Moscow in 2015 .

Meinhardt took part in the Olympic Games three times . In 2008 he was tenth in the singles in Beijing, at the 2012 Games in London he just missed winning a medal with the team. In the semi-finals the United States lost to Italy with 24:45, in the ensuing battle for bronze, Germany prevailed against the Americans with 45:27. At the games in Rio de Janeiro Meinhardt was fifth in the singles. In the quarterfinals he lost to Richard Kruse with 13:15. With the team, which in addition to Meinhardt also included Miles Chamley-Watson , Alexander Massialas and Race Imboden , he was eliminated again in the semifinals, this time against Russia at 41:45. In the battle for bronze, however, she remained victorious, she won 45:31 against Italy.

From 2013 to 2015 he studied business administration at the University of Notre Dame .
