Race Alick Reid Imboden (born April 17, 1993 in Tampa ) is an American foil fencer .

successes

Race Imboden achieved numerous successes at the continental level. He has been the Pan-American Champion several times: in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 he won the title in singles and from 2011 to 2019 nine times in a row with the team. He won silver several times at world championships : in 2013 , 2017 and 2018 he was runner-up with the team. In 2019 he finally won the title in Budapest . He took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 2012 , he finished ninth in the individual in London and just missed a medal win with the team. In the semi-finals the United States lost to Italy with 24:45, in the ensuing battle for bronze, Germany prevailed against the Americans with 45:27. At the games in Rio de Janeiro Imboden was not qualified for the individual. With the team, which in addition to Imboden also included Miles Chamley-Watson , Alexander Massialas and Gerek Meinhardt , he was eliminated again in the semi-finals, this time against Russia at 41:45. In the battle for bronze, however, she remained victorious, she won 45:31 against Italy. In 2019 he won bronze in singles and gold with the team at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima .

He studied at St. John's University , for which he was also active in college sports in fencing. After he also achieved significant income in his parallel modeling career that was not compatible with the amateur compulsions of college sports, he decided in 2013 to drop out of his studies. His parents named Imboden after the character Race Bannon from the comic series Jonny Quest .
