Miles Cleveland Chamley-Watson (born December 3, 1989 in London , United Kingdom ) is an American foil fencer .

successes

Miles Chamley-Watson achieved numerous successes at the continental level. Nine times he was Pan American champion with the team. In the individual, however, he did not win the title, his best result was a second place in 2010. He also secured the gold medal with the team in 2011 in Guadalajara and 2015 in Toronto . At world championships he won silver with this in 2013 , 2017 and 2018 . In 2019 he finally won the title in Budapest . In 2013 he became world champion in individual after a 15: 6 final victory over Artur Achmatchusin .

Chamley-Watson took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 2012 he finished 25th in London , with the team he just missed a medal win. In the semi-finals the United States lost to Italy with 24:45, in the ensuing battle for bronze, Germany prevailed against the Americans with 45:27. At the games in Rio de Janeiro he reached 19th place in the individual. With the team, which in addition to Chamley-Watson also included Gerek Meinhardt , Alexander Massialas and Race Imboden , he was eliminated again in the semifinals, this time against Russia at 41:45. In the battle for bronze, however, she remained victorious, she won 45:31 against Italy.

From 2008 to 2012 he studied sports management at Pennsylvania State University , for which he was also active in college fencing.
