Alexander Anatoljewitsch Romankow ( Russian Александр Анатольевич Романьков ; born November 7, 1953 in Korsakow ) is a former Soviet foil fencer , Olympic champion and twelve-time world champion.

Alexander Romankow won the fencing world championships in 1974 , 1979 , 1981 , 1982 and 1989 with the Soviet foil team .

In 1974 he also won singles, as well as in 1977 , 1979, 1982 and 1983 .

At his first Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 , Romankow received silver in the individual and fourth place with the team. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow Romankow received silver with the team and bronze in the individual. In 1984 the Soviet Union boycotted the Los Angeles Games. In 1988 in Seoul he took part for the last time and won gold and bronze in the individual with the team.
