Giorgio Pessina (born June 16, 1902 in Rome , † July 18, 1977 there ) was an Italian foil fencer .

successes

Giorgio Pessina took part in three Olympic Games : in 1924 he missed winning a medal with the team in Paris in fourth place, before he became Olympic champion with the team in Amsterdam in 1928 . Together with Giorgio Chiavacci , Giulio Gaudini , Gioacchino Guaragna , Ugo Pignotti and Oreste Puliti , he remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Four years later he moved into the final round again with the Italian team, which Italy initially finished in first place, tied with France and the United States . In the jump-off, Italy won against the Americans, who, like the Italians, lost to the French, giving Pessina silver.
