Gioacchino Guaragna (born June 14, 1908 in Milan , † April 19, 1971 ibid) was an Italian foil fencer . He became an Olympic and world champion.

Gioacchino Guaragna was world champion eight times between 1929 and 1938 . In singles he won the title in Budapest in 1933 and in Piešťany in 1938 , with the team in Naples in 1929 , in Liège in 1930 , in Vienna in 1931 , in Budapest in 1933, in Warsaw in 1934 and in Piešťany in 1938. He also won bronze singles in 1927 and 1930. Guaragna took part in three Olympic Games : in 1928 he became Olympic champion with the team in Amsterdam . Together with Giorgio Chiavacci , Giulio Gaudini , Giorgio Pessina , Ugo Pignotti and Oreste Puliti , he remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Four years later he moved into the final round again with the Italian team, which Italy initially finished in first place, tied with France and the United States . In the jump-off, Italy won against the Americans, who, like the Italians, lost to the French, giving Guaragna silver. In the individual, he just missed another medal win with fourth place. At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 , he also reached the final round in singles, which he completed with 3: 4 wins in fifth place. He also made it into the final round with the team once again, in which the Italian team remained unbeaten and became Olympic champion ahead of France. In addition to Guaragna, Giorgio Bocchino , Manlio Di Rosa , Giulio Gaudini, Gustavo Marzi and Ciro Verratti belonged to the winning team. He fought his last international battle in 1949.
