Yūki Ōta

Yūki Ōta ( Japanese 太 田 雄 貴 , Ōta Yūki ; born November 25, 1985 in Ōtsu , Shiga Prefecture ) is a Japanese foil fencer .

Yūki Ōta had his international breakthrough at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , where he finished ninth. With the team, the Tokyo man finished seventh at the 2006 World Championships in Turin and thirteenth in St. Petersburg in 2007 . In 2007 there was also tenth place in the individual competition. Ōta won its first international title at the Asian Championships in Nantong in 2007 and in Bangkok in 2008 . The greatest success was winning the silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . After Ōta had beaten two three-time world champions in the quarter-finals with Peter Joppich (final score 15:12) and in the semifinals with Salvatore Sanzo (final score 15:14), he had to admit defeat to Benjamin Kleibrink with 9:15 in the final . In 2010 Yūki Ōta won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Paris , in that year he was third in the world rankings. With the Japanese team he won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games , in the individual he came in fourteenth place.

Four times, Ōta was able to achieve second places at World Cup events.
