Rolando Samuel Tucker León (born December 31, 1971 in Havana ) is a former Cuban foil fencer .

successes

Rolando Tucker was world champion with the team in Budapest in 1991 and in The Hague in 1995 . He also achieved second place with her in 1997 in Cape Town . He achieved his best result in the individual in 1994 in Athens , when he became the first Cuban world champion in the individual after beating Alessandro Puccini in the final . At Pan American Games he won the gold medal with the team in Mar del Plata in 1995 and in Winnipeg in 1999 . In 1995 he won silver and 1999 gold.

He took part in the Olympic Games twice. In 1996 in Atlanta , Tucker, who was the flag bearer of the Cuban delegation at the opening ceremony, reached the quarterfinals of the individual competition, in which he was defeated by Wolfgang Wienand with 12:15. In the team competition, the Cuban team lost to Russia after an opening victory over South Korea in the semifinals with a score of 44:45. In the battle for third place, the team then prevailed 45:28 against Austria , so that Tucker received the bronze medal together with Elvis Gregory and Oscar García Pérez . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , he finished 14th in the individual, while he was seventh with the team.
